Proposed routes for a Vincennes city bus route have been revealed.

RLS Associates INC is a transportation management firm contracted by the city to conduct a transit route study.

At a public input meetings on Wednesday, officials say they’ve come up with two options.

One is a single route and the other a two route plan with buses running at the same time.   One would go east through the city and the other would go west.

The stops in both plans would be at various housing areas, schools, V-U, the YMCA, the hospital and medical offices picking up passengers at yet to be determined designated bus stops with plans currently to start and end the loops at Wal-Mart.

RLS Senior Associate, Christy Campoll,  says now that the routes and proposed schedules have been created, the next steps will be to prepare the city and VanGo for a possible service launch next year and then lay the groundwork for funding…

Operating one route would cost around $200,00 and two routes would of course be double that.

Currently the city is working with a million dollars in HELP grant funds from the Hoosier Enduring Legacy Program which is paying for the study and initial startup costs including one bus.
