The Knox County Parks and Recreation Board is seeking a few more dollars to finish a major project.
Parks Board member Johnathan Feavel went before the Knox County Commissioners Wednesday requesting any leftover ARPA dollars to complete a major electrical system upgrade at Wabash Trails Park.
The Parks Department had previously been allocated around $900,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding for the work.
After planning and engineering costs, there is $801,000 left leaving them around $283,600 short in getting the nearly $1.2 million project done.
Feavel said they have reviewed plans and taken out some aspects of the plan to save as much money as possible.
The Commissioners were agreeable to provide the extra funding but the decision ultimately lies with the county council.
The Commissioner voted to approve their ARPA funding plan with the inclusion that the County Council could choose to grant the money from sources other than ARPA.
