The postponed screening of Women of the White Buffalo will take place this Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Vincennes University Technology Building auditorium, located at 1300 Chestnut Street.
Part of Native American Heritage Month, the film sheds light on the challenges and resilience of Indigenous women. It is hosted by the VU Humanities Film & Lecture Series, the Office of Global Diversity & Inclusion, and Wabash Valley Progressives.
The event was originally scheduled last month but was cut short due to technical difficulties. Jen Holscher of Wabash Valley Progressives explained the importance of understanding Native American culture and issues: “The idea is to bring awareness of some of the challenges that face Native Americans, and also just awareness of the fact that they are still here, that they’re sovereign nations, that they have their own languages, and that they’re not just a relic from the past,” Holscher said.
The screening is free to attend, and light refreshments will be served. Parking is available near the Technology Building, across from the VU PE Complex
