Knox County celebrated the holiday season over the weekend with parades, vendor fairs, and festive activities at historic sites.
The Vincennes PBS Christmas Parade entry delighted spectators with Cookie Monster handing out oranges and potatoes to promote a healthy cooking contest in partnership with the Community Learning Kitchen.

At Grouseland, the historic home of William Henry Harrison, the Grouseland Candlelit Christmas Open House offered a glimpse into 19th-century holiday traditions. The event featured interpreters, musicians, and students creating an immersive experience of Christmas in the early 1800s.
“It was a very religious time back then. Families spent a lot of time together, sharing food with loved ones and the community,” said Lisa Ice-Jones, Executive Director of the Grouseland Foundation. “The Harrisons had connections, so we’d like to think they put on a nice spread for the community.”
In Monroe City, the 4th annual Christmas Extravaganza highlighted a lighted tractor parade, which organizers called a resounding success.
