Head Start students were escorted into Walmart this morning, kicking off the day with a police parade from PACE Community Action Agency down Hart Street to the department store off Kimmell Road.
Officers, members of other emergency services agencies, and some high school students joined forces to make sure every child had a memorable experience.
Once inside, the children teamed up with their helpers to shop for Christmas gifts. Each child received $250 to spend on toys, clothes, and shoes. Donations throughout the year made the shopping spree possible, with the goal of providing children with essentials and a bit of holiday cheer.
Organizers say Shop with a Cop is more than a shopping trip—it’s a chance to build positive relationships between kids and the officers who serve their community.
From the parade to the checkout lanes, smiles were everywhere, with students and officers alike enjoying the chance to brighten the holiday season.
