Families seeking a more inclusive holiday experience can join the sensory-friendly Santa event this Saturday at 10 a.m. at Supportive Community Innovations, located at 1813 Willow Street in Vincennes.

Janice Barniack, Executive Director of the Vincennes/Knox County Visitors and Tourism Bureau, says this event is designed for children who might find traditional Santa visits overwhelming.

“It can be really hard to coordinate with children that maybe have intellectual challenges,” Barniack explained. “This is a Santa time for children that would prefer a quieter atmosphere. Families can reserve times, making it a low-key event so that children who are easily overwhelmed have a place they can see Santa.”

The initiative seems to align with efforts to make community events more inclusive for children with diverse needs. Local organizations like Supportive Community Innovations are creating spaces that emphasize accessibility and understanding.

The sensory-friendly Santa event is free of charge, but families are encouraged to reserve time slots early as availability may be limited. For more information or to book a time follow the link below.
