CenterPoint Energy customers in southwest Indiana are still dealing with widespread power outages caused by icy weather.
Around 30,000 homes and businesses remain without power, down from a peak of nearly 60,000 on Monday. CenterPoint serves about 150,000 customers in the region.
The region affected stretches through areas of Pike, Gibson, Warrick, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Posey Counties.
Officials warn outages could last for multiple days, as icy conditions and falling branches continue to create new problems. The Evansville Courier and Press quoted spokesperson Noah Stubbs who said some repairs take just 20 minutes, while others require hours.
Dozens of crews and contractors are working to restore service, but progress remains slow.
Residents without power are encouraged to use warming centers and stay prepared for extended outages.
WIN Energy and Duke Energy are reporting minimal issues on their outage maps and none in Knox County.
