The future of manufacturing will be on display in Vincennes as high school students put their machining skills to the test .

Vincennes University will host the Indiana Chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association High School Machining Competition on February 21st and 22nd. Around 90 students from nearly a dozen Indiana high schools will compete in CNC and manual machining challenges at VU’s state-of-the-art facilities.

The event highlights the high demand for skilled machinists, with the U.S. facing over 2 million unfilled manufacturing jobs by 2030. Competitors will showcase programming, milling, and precision machining skills, while juniors participate in hands-on workshops and a career fair.

Students will also get a taste of college life with an overnight stay and entertainment at VU’s Bowling Center.
