The Vincennes City Council has taken another step forward in the Bierhause Flatts Project.
The $30 million development will bring a 240-unit multi-family complex to Bierhaus Boulevard, across from Kohl’s. It’s a major step toward addressing the region’s housing needs.
In a 7-0 vote, the council passed the final reading of a resolution designating an economic revitalization area and real property tax abatement. Before the vote, some discussion took place with developers.
A key concern raised was whether local contractors would be involved in the project. Developers stated that five Knox County contractors and suppliers expressed interest, with three expected to participate. They estimate about 28% of the work will be handled locally.
The developers also confirmed that if financial approval is granted, construction could begin soon.
