The Cannelburg Fire Department has announced their new fire station is now operational in Barr Township in Daviess County.
Officials say it will improve emergency response times by about 10 minutes for residents on the east side of the county.
The new building is located at 250 North 1200 East, and was built entirely through community donations without the use of tax dollars.
The new facility also improves the area’s ISO rating, which could lead to lower homeowner insurance costs. It currently houses Engine 22, with plans to add a medical and brush response truck in the future.
An open house and fundraiser are planned once the station is fully completed.
