Shake Library at Vincennes University hosted the opening reception for the Americans and the Holocaust exhibition on Tuesday.

The event, presented in partnership with the Vincennes University Alumni Association & Foundation, opened 10 days ago and features a traveling exhibit from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the American Library Association.

Attendees at the reception viewed historical materials and engaged in discussions.

Public Services LIbrarian, Jamie Cox says the exhibition examines the role of the United States during the rise of Nazism and World War II, exploring the motives, pressures, and fears that influenced Americans’ responses to genocide.  “Hopefully when you learn about the individuals that helped refugees at that time, who served in the war, you can see how individuals’ actions made a difference and hopefully learn what you do makes a difference”, she said.

The exhibit runs through April 28th again at the Shake Library on the VU campus.
