A Vincennes man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for the 2023 murder of his daughter.

Fritzner Antoine, now 64, was convicted of killing 30-year-old Sterline Antoine Joseph on June 24, 2023. The attack occurred at a home on Audubon Drive, where police found Joseph dead in the driveway with multiple stab wounds. Two young children were present at the scene.

According to court documents, Antoine told officers he was upset that his daughter frequently asked him to watch her children. He selected a gold knife and stabbed her multiple times, including in the head.  He later confessed to detectives.

Knox County Prosecutor Dirk Carnahan requested a 60-year sentence, which Circuit Court Judge Monica Gilmore imposed.

Carnahan acknowledged the sentence does not bring closure to the victim’s family. “60 years or 600 years doesn’t change their lives,” he said. “All we can do is keep trying to do what is right and make a difference.” He thanked law enforcement, court staff, and his team for their work on the case.
