Troopers Recognized for Exceptional Service

A local state trooper has been honored for their dedication, service, bravery and devotion to the agency and Indiana citizens. Trooper Tanner Hurley of Vincennes is assigned to the Evansville State Police Post and at the ISP annual awards this week he received the Top District DUI Award for removing 64 impaired and dangerous drivers from Indiana roadways in 2024. He also earned the Top 5 DUI Life Award, ranking fourth in the state for DUI arrests. Hurley is a certified Drug Recognition Expert who often arrests drivers under the influence of drugs.

Meanwhile out of the Jasper State Police Post, Trooper Noah Ewing, who patrols Orange County, Indiana, received the Jasper District Top OWI Award for apprehending 30 impaired drivers in 2024. Ewing is a nine-year veteran of the Indiana State Police and also serves as a Drug Recognition Expert, firearms instructor, SFST instructor, and hostage negotiator.

Also out of the Jasper State Police Post,Master Trooper Gaven Wilson, who resides in Daviess County has been selected as the 2024 “Trooper of the District.

Trooper Wilson, a 30-year veteran of the Indiana State Police, patrols Daviess and Martin Counties and serves as a Field Training Officer. He also sponsors “Just Say No” and “Level Up” programs in area schools and has served in the Mobile Field Force, Bomb Squad, and as a Crash Reconstructionist. In 2024, he led investigations involving serious crimes such as rape, child molesting, domestic battery, and auto theft—most of which were self-initiated. Wilson completed 47 public information officer (PIO) events at schools and churches, and is well-known among educators and youth in the region.
