Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum changed into high heels today.

The Mayor, City Fire and Police Chiefs and other city department heads sported women’s shoes as part of the Walk Toward Justice: Men Against Sexualized Violence.

April is Sexual Assaultt Awareness Month and Kelsy Carr, the Community Impact Director for the Children and Family Services Corporation says today’s focus was to unite men in the effort to stop violence against women and walk a mile in women’s shoes.

The men fitted the high heel shoes to their feet and after some practice took a walk along 7th Street from the Margaret Compton Recovery Center to the courthouse where the Mayor presented a proclamation supporting the cause.
