Vincennes University President Dr. Chuck Johnson said he had mixed emotions as he shared the news today of  the departure of  long time coach and A-D Harry Meeks.

Meeks joined VU in 1991 as an instructor and only the 4th head coach of the Women’s Basketball team.

In 23 seasons he won 20 or more games and had 11 NJCAA National Tournament Appearances.

Meeks also produced 26 of the 30 Women’s Basketball All-Americans during his time at VU.

Johnson went on to praise Meeks saying VU Athletics has produced eight team national championships under Harry’s leadership as athletic director, including 2019 Men’s Basketball, 2011 Tennis, 2013, 2016, and 2018 Men’s Golf, and 2010, 2012, and 2014 Bowling.

During Harry’s tenure as AD, the VU Track and Field program has also produced several individual national championships.

Meeks will stay on through the end of June to help with with the transitional phase and Johnson says the new search for a new athletic director and women’s coach will start soon.
