Vincennes PBS hosted its first-ever Family Fun Fest on Saturday at Davis Hall on the Vincennes University campus. The free event, held from 9 AM to noon, was designed for children of all ages and featured a wide range of activities.
There were 377 people who came to enjoy the day.
Highlights included a mobile petting zoo, a fire truck display, and a giant coloring station. Several community partners and nonprofits, such as the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, the Community Learning Kitchen, PACE, and the Salvation Army, were on hand with educational activities and information on local services.
A special screening of the new Pinkalicious movie took place at 10:30 AM, with attendees receiving exclusive Pinkalicious-themed items. Popular PBS characters Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kitty Cat also made appearances for photos and meet-and-greets.
Parents and kids alike enjoyed the event. Calli, one of the young attendees, said her favorite part was hugging Daniel Tiger and coloring. Justin Johanningsmeyer of Freelandville brought his daughter after hearing about the event through her school. He said his family enjoyed it, especially the educational materials, calling it “great for the community.”
