Republican Mike Braun and Democrat Jennifer McCormick highlighted sharp differences in their first televised debate of Indiana’s 2024 gubernatorial race. Hosted by Fox 59 and CBS 4 in Indianapolis, both candidates presented their plans on key issues like property taxes, teacher pay, and affordable housing.

Braun blamed Democrats for economic struggles, tying McCormick to national policies. He argued that under her party’s leadership, the country has seen some of the “worst economic results.” Meanwhile, McCormick kept her criticism at the state level, pointing out Indiana’s low rankings in quality of life and education after 20 years of Republican governance.

Both parties declared victory after the debate, with McCormick emphasizing the need for change and Braun focusing on issues like education and healthcare. Libertarian candidate Donald Rainwater was excluded from the debate for not meeting polling criteria.
