Grocery bills are climbing, and while many blame inflation, experts say natural disasters are also a cause behind rising food costs.

Indiana farmers are feeling the impact of extreme weather events like hot, dry summers and heavy rains lowering livestock productivity.products.

Mike Stromberg of Trace One, a compliance company for the food industry, says the issue is nationwide.

A Trace One study ranked Indiana 24th for states where natural disasters most affect food supply. Flooding in counties like Knox and Dubois causes significant losses.

Stromberg says solutions include climate-resilient crops, better water management, and using technologies like drones and sensors to help farmers adapt. He also urges Hoosiers to reduce food waste, which cost households over $2,000 last year.
