Authorities in Knox County have arrested a man accused of tampering with fiber optic lines near a communications tower.

Deputies were called to the area of 9251 East State Road 61 around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon after reports of a suspicious vehicle. When they arrived, they found 57-year-old Brian Pinkstaff actively cutting fiber optic wire.

Pinkstaff was taken into custody and, according to deputies, was also found with illegal drugs in his pocket. He was transported to the Knox County Jail and is now facing multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, theft, and criminal mischief—each a Level 6 felony.

Authorities continue to investigate.
