Eighteen Indiana counties are now under disaster declarations. Governor Mike Braun made the announcement earlier today.

The move comes after recent flooding, storms, and tornadoes caused widespread damage. Affected counties include Bartholomew, Brown, Clark, Crawford, Dearborn, Delaware, Gibson, Hamilton, Harrison, Lake, Madison, Marshall, Martin, Owen, Perry, Posey, Spencer, and Warrick.

The emergency declaration is in effect for 30 days. It allows the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to begin offering financial help through the State Disaster Relief Fund.

Governor Braun says he hopes this step helps residents, businesses, and local governments recover from the severe weather.
