SULLIVAN – The Friends of the Sullivan City Park invite area residents to their first
vendor fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18. The park is located at 625 S. Main
St. in Sullivan.
The event will host food and drink vendors and sellers of goods such as wood
crafts, plants, essential oils, T-shirts and other clothing, knives, tattoo gift certificates,
children’s books, candles, baby clothes, kitchen wares, pet treats, and more. There also
will be a face-painting booth. Altogether, there will be more than 65 vendors, according
to Raemie Cooley, a Friends of the Sullivan City Park member.
There’s no admission fee, and parking is free.
“Our goal is to bring the community to the city park to enjoy it daily, and during these
events, which will help us raise funds for park projects and future revitalization as
needed,” Cooley said. The group’s next event will be a car show on June 22.
Current projects on the Friends’ agenda include revitalizing and expanding tennis,
pickleball, and basketball courts, as well as cornhole space.
The Friends of the Sullivan City Park is a volunteer group interested in seeing the park
flourish. They work under the auspices of the City of Sullivan. Anyone wishing to donate
to the city park revitalization can make checks payable to Friends of the Sullivan City
Park or to the City of Sullivan, with a note on the memo line designating what it’s for,
and drop it at Sullivan City Hall.
