On December 12, 2020, the George Rogers Clark NHP staff and volunteers will offer visitors the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of British Lt. Governor Henry Hamilton and his soldiers as they made their march to Vincennes in 1778. This march will be the only ranger led activity to the public in 2020 since the George Rogers Clark March in February. To safety present this program, the park has two requests for those attending. First is that hikers carpool with someone in their immediate bubble. Rangers will leave the park visitor center at 1:00 pm, to travel to Kimmel Park. The hike will leave Kimmel Park and hike the approximate 2 miles back to the Clark Memorial. The second request is that visitors utilize social distancing for the outdoor hike. Visitors will be asked to maintain a minimum distance of six feet from presenters and visitors outside of their bubble. Along the way, rangers will share the story of the British march and the difficult journey that laid ahead for those men. Please wear comfortable shoes and seasonally appropriate clothing for the hike.
There is no charge for the program, but we ask that those planning to attend register. To register for the event or for more information please contact park staff at 812.882.1776, ext. 1210.
